Global Wellness Day – Saturday 11 June 2016

 

This was first celebrated in Turkey in 2012 and it is now acceptable in over 73 countries worldwide.  This international day is dedicated to living well.  Be healthier, look better and live well.  The mantra is ‘One day can change your whole life’.  The UK ambassadors include Jean Marc Delacourt, CEO of Pure Massage and Liz Holmes, Health and Beauty Manager for Virgin Active.

The seven steps for global wellness are:

 

  1. Walk for an hourYoga
  2. Drink more water
  3. Don’t use plastic bottles
  4. Eat Organic wherever possible
  5. Do a good deed (every day if possible)
  6. Have a family dinner
  7. Sleep at 10pm

The main aims of this day are

  • To recognise the value of living
  • Pause and think – just for a moment
  • Be free from stress
  • Make peace with ourselves
  • Raise awareness about living well

According to The World Health Organisation wellness is a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
