Take control of your own Wellbeing

The five top elements affecting wellbeing are:

  • Sufficient sleep
  • Managing Stress
  • Managing Time
  • Maintaining a healthy weight; and
  • Money

There are many reasons why we find it difficult to get enough sleep.  Being unable to switch off is often a factor.  Lack of sleep can affect so many other aspects of your life.  You may suffer with aches and pains from tossing and turning during the night.  Not enough sleep also leads to an increase in the hormones that regulate hunger and those that tell you when you are full.  This would therefore ultimately lead to a tendency to gain weight.

Taking care of yourself should begin with sleep.  It is amazing how much better things can look following a good night’s sleep.  You will feel calmer, more rested and able to see life clearer.  So many people now find it difficult to switch off and achieve the ultimate night’s sleep.    Over half the population have problems with tiredness and nearly 40% are not happy with their weight.  The two are inextricably linked.   Achieve enough sleep and you will find maintaining your ideal weight a little easier.   Choosing the right bed will make a big difference.  Try a Duxiana bed, proven to take you to deep sleep quicker and keep you there approximately one hour longer. www.duxiana.co.uk

Taking exercise on a regular basis will also help with both these problems.  Exercise will use excess energy and make your body ready for rest.   Being able to relax both physically and mentally gives your body time to recharge.  It is not advisable to take your phone or iPad into the bedroom as the blue light emitted from these devices stops the production of melatonin which induces sleep.   Don’t feel you should continue to work – take a break and your mind will re-charge and then when you awake the following day you will be more productive.

So by doing a little more exercise you should achieve better sleep which in turn will affect your stress levels and your weight.  Making small changes in your lifestyle can have a more dramatic affect than you think.    Small steps leads to bigger improvements.
